Nonne haec categoria rerum politicarum periti Austriaci esse debet?--Irenaeus 10:07, 14 Februarii 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Praeferam nomen breve: Viri politici Austriaci aut Legati Austriaci. Harrissimo 10:41, 14 Februarii 2008 (UTC).[reply]
We have in the past used viri publici in category names but I think it won't really do (at least as a category name in modern politics) because it excludes women, and the same applies to viri politici.
At the moment I use Legatus for diplomats (ambassadors etc.). However, I see that in some US politics pages legatus is used for "representatives", i.e. home-grown politicians. I don't mind, really, but if it's agreed that legatus means politician generally, or representative in the national assembly, then we need another word for diplomats, ambassadors etc.! If a vir civilis is a politician, does that make an Austriacus civilis an Austrian politician (Austriacus as a noun should be like a refined version of vir anyway, meaning an Austrian person rather than just a person). Categoria:Austriaci civiles? Harrissimo 19:29, 14 Februarii 2008 (UTC).[reply]
Temporibus antiquis tales viros in re publica versatos dicere solebant. Unde evenit haec categoriae inscriptio: Homines in re publica versati Austriaci vel Austriaca. --Irenaeus 20:53, 14 Februarii 2008 (UTC)[reply]
To match our usual style, I think that this category should now move to Categoria:Politicorum periti Austriae. Andrew Dalby (disputatio) 10:18, 17 Decembris 2008 (UTC)[reply]
