This category really needs to be renamed. See Disputatio Usoris:Iustinus#Olympia_aestiva for some discussion of what the Olympics were called in antiquity. --Iustinus 04:27, 19 Augusti 2006 (UTC)[reply]

So, what to call it? Categoria:Olympia? Andrew Dalby (disputatio) 13:26, 1 Ianuarii 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Well, if it helps, the discussion I linked to back in Aught-Six is now at Disputatio Usoris:Iustinus/Archive2#Olympia aestiva --Iustinus 15:56, 1 Ianuarii 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I was hoping for a suggestion! Well, my suggestion is Categoria:Olympia Certamina. (I add "Certamina" to avoid ambiguity.) Any other comments? Andrew Dalby (disputatio) 11:46, 5 Aprilis 2011 (UTC)[reply]

For the fundamental concept, the English wiki doesn't recognize a need for an analog of Certamina, though it does for certain subdivisions. Here's a severely pruned tree, ex en:
Olympics
Ancient Olympic Games
Olympic culture
History of the Olympics
Olympic medals
Olympic movement
Olympics opening ceremonies
Olympic records
Paralympics
Olympic sports
Summer Olympic Games
1896 Summer Olympics
1900 Summer Olympics, etc., etc.
Olympic symbols
Winter Olympic Games
1924 Winter Olympics
1928 Winter Olympics, etc., etc.

OK, since no other suggestion has been made, and the present name is inaccurate, I'll ask UVbot to do the move. Andrew Dalby (disputatio) 18:58, 15 Ianuarii 2012 (UTC)[reply]

My perhaps too subtle suggestion in favor of "Olympia" stands above, and it's supported by the fact that the name of the article in question is "Olympia (certamina)," not "Olympia Certamina." Also, it's going to be awkward having the category for "Olympic culture" be a subset of "Olympic Games," since culture is not a game, and the relationship could be considered the other way round: games are subsets of culture. IacobusAmor 22:15, 15 Ianuarii 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I can't see your suggestion, sorry. I did think about "Olympia", but it won't do as a category name in Latin because it's ambiguous: it's also the name of a place. Andrew Dalby (disputatio) 22:27, 15 Ianuarii 2012 (UTC)[reply]
But, let me add, my only interest in this was to get "Ludi Olympiae" obliterated: I'm no sportif, and if you and others can now find an even better name, that's fine by me. Andrew Dalby (disputatio) 11:39, 16 Ianuarii 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Since the broadest-scale article on this constellation of topics is Olympia (certamina), is there a reason the category shouldn't match it, as "Categoria:Olympia (certamina)"? IacobusAmor 13:43, 16 Ianuarii 2012 (UTC)[reply]
For the record, I agree with Olympia Certamina. --Iustinus (disputatio) 00:15, 7 Septembris 2012 (UTC)[reply]
