Genus monotypicum or genus monotypum[fontem recensere]

Both forms are attested in Neolatin. However in Greek, compound adjectives with τύπος end on -τύπος (see Liddell & Scott). A limited number of these adjectives has been used in Latin as loan word, with the similar ending -typus (see Lewis & Short) , e.g. archetypus, prototypus, ectypus, zelotypus (?), atypus (?). Only typicus in Latin ends on -typicus. Is anyone in favor of renaming this categoria to genera monotypa? Thank you for your response. I was hoping Iacobus would reply, but maybe he's taking a break from disputationes. He created this and similar categories, and will certainly have a view. My view is that you're probably right, Wimpus. I can't find many occurrences of this word, but "monotypa" occurs more often than "monotypica" even as a species name, so it is approved by writers of botanical/zoological Latin. If no one else comments, we should probably move. Andrew Dalby (disputatio) 19:01, 30 Septembris 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Andrew, thank you for your response. Should I make a request in this case? With kind regards, Wimpus (disputatio) 15:27, 2 Octobris 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Go ahead, Wimpus. You will see that there are in total 15 category names using this term (if I counted correctly). You will need to list them all at Vicipaedia:Automata/Category move requests, with the new names alongside. While doing this, please consider the word order, which varies -- whether this is a good or bad thing I'm uncertain -- I am sure you can decide the best phraseology. Dear Andrew, thanks. Thank you for sorting out the number of monotypus-related categoriae. In Neolatin, there seems to be a preference to use the paradigm noun-adjective (e.g. in binary nomenclature, in anatomy) when these Latin expressions are used within non-Latin texts, while in classical Latin word order seems less strict, I'll try to construct something that seems consistent. Dear Andrew, and there are even more monotypus-related categoriae as it is not only an adjective accompanying the noun genera, but also familiae, subfamiliae, superfamiliae, ordines and tribus. Before requesting a mass movement, lets wait and see what the discussion with IacobusAmor will bring (as you already noticed), with kind regards, Wimpus (disputatio) 11:43, 3 Octobris 2013 (UTC)[reply]
That's a good idea, Wimpus. Andrew Dalby (disputatio) 13:28, 3 Octobris 2013 (UTC)[reply]
