For ancient & medieval Basques, Vicipaedia already has an article Vascones (en:Vascones), but the list of 10,000 most important articles links to en:Basques, referring mainly to present-day people; hence the title given here. Of course these lemmata can be changed if consensus prefers, but the link to the Myrias list should be retained, lest Vicipaedia lose points in the interwiki rankings. "And points mean prizes!" (sorry, quote from a much-loved British satirical show in which there were no prizes). You're right. My view is that this article should be called "Vascones" and should include, in its history section, information about the ancient Vascones and the ancient Aquitani, because the consensus seems to be that both were ancient Basques. It would not be the first people for whom the Romans had more than one name. I guess I'm proposing merging Vascones into this article (making it a bit longer), carefully retaining this article's interwiki links. Andrew Dalby (disputatio) 17:34, 2 Iunii 2019 (UTC)[reply]
