- You're right, I don't know the etymology. I just can't figure where 'Octer' would come from, as that name does not regularly correspond to Italian 'Ozieri'. The Vatican link does not work - apparently they don't allow direct links - but one can find it there; strangely given that the AAS is in Latin, it doesn't seem to be on the 'Latin' site. - Well, I can't figure where Octer would come from either. I doubted your statement because (as we know!) modern Latin forms are sometimes invented on the basis of modern languages; for all we know at present, that might have happened here, in which case Othieri would be the descendant, not the ancestor.
