Disputatio:Nigritania

Gender of Niger. We could list it as an adj., but as the name of a country it seems that it should be a proper noun. (Cf. names of months like November, which are listed as a masc. noun in Vicipaedia, but are listed (first) as an adj. in Victionario.) - I don't think anyone saw Harrissimo's proposal before. It's a real possibility (the words to which Harrissimo referred are probably "in Nigritana Natione"). It would have its convenience for us Latinists, because, since niger is such an ordinary adjective, referring to this country in a phrase or sentence will often be confusing: consider the problem with category names like "Categoria:Incolae Nigri" (which is ambiguous) or "Categoria:Incolae civitatis Nigri" (which looks like an error) or our current Categoria:Incolae Niger (which is an error).
