The "Hispanic Monarchy" is the name given to the period when the all the kingdoms of Spain (Leon, Castilla, Valencia, Portugal) were in a personal union under the Habsburg kings until Philip V merged all the different kingdoms in the "Kingdom of Spain". It seems that other wikipedias call this period the "Spanish empire", hence maybe we should merge both our pages...--Xaverius 09:07, 14 Maii 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You are probably best placed to decide ... I understood "Spanish Empire" to refer to the worldwide expansion of Spanish rule rather than the European combinations, but I'm no expert. The main question is, are the concepts different? If so, keep both articles: it doesn't matter much what other Wikipedias do. Wikipedias are like sheep sometimes, following one another. Certainly we could sya that the Spanish empire finished in 1899 while the Spanish Monarchy finished in 1700/1714--Xaverius 13:40, 14 Maii 2007 (UTC)[reply]
