Dictionnaire Latin-Français des Noms propres de Lieux ayant une certaine notoriété principalement au point de vue ecclésiastique et monastique (1897) has the nominative proper name Melburnum, but doesn't specify that that's the name of the city in Australia. Whatever the story with the noun, the adjective Melbournensis is well-established and has plenty of googleable attestations for the perciform fish Gerres melbournensis (also known as Parequula melbournensis), the fly Sigaloessa melbournensis, the bee Leioproctus melbournensis, the beetles Harpalus melbournensis (one of several names available for Gnathaphanus melbournensis) and Teraphis melbournensis, and the extinct eogastropod Australonema melbournensis.
