Finally, what's the correct adjective?[fontem recensere]

I read "homophylophilia" (-ius, -ium?) and "homophylophilicus"/"homophylophilica" (-icum?) here.
And I myself would have written "homophylophilus"/"homophylophila"/"homophylophilum".
So, what should we use? Sigur (disputatio) 23:45, 18 Ianuarii 2019 (UTC)

I agree with you. And it's not just me but the general practice of borrowing words in the sciences from Greek. That, as I understand it, is where we got this Latin noun from: it is hard to find uses of the Latin word on Google that do not depend on Vicipaedia ultimately, but it is easy to find both the noun and the adjective in Greek. A Greek news blog, plucked from Google, gives «Είμαι ομοφυλόφιλος» as the classic coming-out statement: "Sum homophylophilus" or "I am gay".
As to whether a compound adjective borrowed from Greek should have a feminine declension or not, we have discussed this somewhere far away from this page and long, long ago. Basically, Latinists have taken both views, but it may startle the Latin reader a little less if we give a feminine termination in agreement with a feminine noun. Just to complete, ομοφυλοφιλικός also exists as a Greek adjective. So we could use it too, "homophylophilicus". In Greek, and probably Latin, it would be used as an adjective attached to concepts (e.g. ομοφυλοφιλικός πανικός "homophobia") rather than to people. I think. I would add that the feminine ending seems to make no doubt for biologists, see en:Aeromonas hydrophila. Sigur (disputatio) 11:51, 19 Ianuarii 2019 (UTC)
Good point.
I was originally thinking about usage in the text, rather than about the title of this particular article. It may be that to accompany "Litterae", "homophylophylicae" would be the first choice, though I'd say either adjective could be justified. Andrew Dalby (disputatio) 13:55, 19 Ianuarii 2019 (UTC)

So, you would suggest "Litterae homophylophilicae" for title and lemma, which would also align us on the use in the quotation? Bene. Aeromonas conceptus non est sed animal. No contradiction there. Sigur (disputatio) 15:51, 19 Ianuarii 2019 (UTC)
