- Actually that may be questionable. en:Jack Sparrow indicates (albeit without a reference) that Sparrow isn't his original surname... it may be a nickname of some kind, and translatable, or it may be a new or false surname, and not. - Interesting. Another argument one might make for not going by the usual rule here: a European in the Age of Exploration would likely have Latinized their surname (and you just know that Jack Sparrow wrote extensive Latin treatises on something or another). Course most of the English authors I've seen (in the 17th century at least) go for forms like Sparuus or Sparowus rather than ones like Passer. --Iustinus 14:59, 5 Augusti 2006 (UTC)

- Well besides it being a title he is personally very fond of calling himself "Captain Jack Sparrow", because his ship was mutinied some time before the first movie and probably still wanted the respect that goes with the name, and to constantly assert his claim to his ship. - I agree with you: those characteristics seem to be not very useful, unless they are put in a longer text e.g. the plot of the films or Jack's biography. At least should be removed the pointed list...
