Well here we run into one of the problems of the latin wikipedia, namely that Canis, the universal scientific name for the genus dogs are in, also happens to be the ordinary Latin word for "dog." This will be a problem with a lot of biological Latin. At any rate, I'd rather link canis with the normal words for "dog" in the different languages. Of course this article is in BAD need of editing.
