In contrast to portulaca (which led me here), I cannot find the name for samphire in any ancient languages except Greek & Latin. It doesn't seem to appear in any Coptic glosses, so finding an Egyptian name will probably be impossible. It does show up in the Syriac Galen, but only the Greek name (ܩܪܐܬܡܘܤ -- litteris quadratis קראתמוס), no Aramaic gloss given. I note fwiw that modern Hebrew uses the Greek (or rather the scientific) name as well: קריתמון, but Arabic uses شمرة, seemingly a variation of شومر "fennel" (cf. "sea fennel," the common name in many languages). --Iustinus (disputatio) 19:30, 11 Septembris 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Reading this article it's obvious that κρίταμα is samphire. This one also lists κύρταμο, κυρταμα, κρίταμο, and κρίτανο. --Iustinus (disputatio) 07:16, 31 Ianuarii 2013 (UTC)[reply]
