Professor meruit apud universitatem Indianensem. De plantis utilibus Americae, praesertim de familia cucurbitacearum, de genere Capsico, de speciebus Heliantho annuo, Solano quitoensi, Schoenoplecto californico operam dedit. Inter discipulos eius fuerunt Gulielmus Hardy Eshbaugh et Barbara Pickersgill.
