Notae
English: The many portraits by Abbott originate from the wish of Horatio Nelson’s friend William Locker, Lieutenant-Governor of Greenwich Hospital.
In 1794 lost the sight on his right eye and in 1797 he lost his right arm. The missing of an arm is seen but apparently Nelson did not cover his blind eye.
