proposed rationes[fontem recensere]

  • PROPOSED: When adding {{delenda}}, the content of the page should stay untouched. Do not blank the page.
In general, I agree. However, there may be special cases where it is better to remove offending content immediately (copyrights violations, insults that might give rise to legal actions, etc.) I would propose the following modification:
PROPOSED: When adding {{delenda}}, the content of the page should in general stay untouched. Do not blank the page. If you remove content from the page, explicitly state this (on the page, before or after your reasons).

Several "levels" of "delenda"[fontem recensere]

As I understand, {{delenda}} means what other Wikipedias call en:Wikipedia:Speedy deletions. I think we need some templates indicating e. g. that:

  • someone suggests to think about deleting a page
  • someone thinks a page should be deleted (in his opinion)
  • a page should be deleted immediately (en:Wikipedia:Speedy deletions)

Then we have the situation, where

  • someone wants to suggest the deletion of content, but not the deletion of a page
  • someone wants to suggest the moving of a page e. g. to Wikisource
  • etc.

--Roland2 13:01, 10 Iunii 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'll make a table:

Situation What to do
someone suggests to think about deleting a page ???
someone thinks a page should be deleted (in his opinion) ??
a page should be deleted immediately (en:Wikipedia:Speedy deletions) use {{delenda}}
someone wants to suggest the deletion of content, but not the deletion of a page ??
someone wants to suggest the moving of a page (= content + title) e. g. to another project ??
someone wants to suggest the moving of content e. g. to another project but to keep a reference (= article) ??

Following EN[fontem recensere]

Could we just follow the en:WP:CSD and en:WP:AFD rules? (replacing notenglish with nonlatine, of course) This would limit the cases to three: One, where you use the CSD templates at en:Template:Deletiontools, where the en:Template:prod is used (usually when you think it is a "special" case of CSD), and then AFD deletion. Your first case would to be to open up a deletion discussion on the talk page, the second case would be to open up AFD, the third case would be CSD, and the last three cases would all be AFD- there are multiple choices for AFD, not only keep and delete but also split, merge, transwiki, etc. I have changed "Wikisource" above to "another project" because it can also be transwikied to Wiktionary, Wikibooks, etc. W1k13rh3nry 13:04, 8 Iunii 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nullae paginae hic nectunt[fontem recensere]

The fact, that there are not any links to a page should not be the only argument to delete a page. It should be either

  • an indication that we do not need this page or
  • a prerequisite for the deletion of a page (apart from the situations where we want a red link)

--Roland2 08:15, 11 Iunii 2006 (UTC)[reply]

read en:WP:NOONECARES. In a nutshell- if anyone might be interested in the topic, then we should have it. W1k13rh3nry 13:06, 8 Iunii 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Index pages[fontem recensere]

Index pages (Anglice: lists) should not be deleted just because "there is a corresponding category". Technically an index page has the advantage, that we can keep entries (as red links) which do not have a page yet. Index pages and categories should be used in parallel, I think. --Roland2 08:23, 11 Iunii 2006 (UTC)[reply]
