Categoria:Kansia Cruda[fontem recensere]

Just a note about deleting it and referring its articles merely to Kansas: judging from :en:, the category Kansia Cruda 'Bleeding Kansas' will eventually have at least fifty-six articles in it. IacobusAmor 14:00, 23 Iulii 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Also, for reference: in :en:, the categories of which Bleeding Kansas is a subcategory are:
19th-century conflicts
Kansas Territory
Slavery in the United States
History of the United States (1849–1865)
Political violence in the United States
Political controversies in the United States
American Old West
History of Kansas
Presidency of James Buchanan
Pierce administration IacobusAmor 03:01, 24 Iulii 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Is "Kansia Cruda" the best translation? I know that crudus can mean "bleeding" (of a wound) but it is very rare in that sense. Would e.g. "Kansia sanguinolenta" be clearer to a reader? Andrew Dalby (disputatio) 19:08, 27 Iulii 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'd wondered about that too, so I referred the question to a retired classics professor, adding that I thought a third possibility, Kansia Sanguinem Dans, would be too wordy; and he just now responds: "Cruda is exactly the right word, because it not only connotes 'bloody,' but the barbarity as well. Any form of sanguine- will not be as dramatic, I think; nor would it be as succinct." IacobusAmor 00:50, 29 Iulii 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Good enough! Andrew Dalby (disputatio) 11:57, 29 Iulii 2009 (UTC)[reply]
