Forte ad "Leo Trotski" movendane pagina? --Alex1011 20:27, 15 Ianuarii 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Google:
Leo Trotski: 1,070
Leo Trotsky: 652
Leo Trotzki: 75,500
Leo Trotzky: 313
Leon Trotski: 36,800
Leon Trotsky: 880,000 <---victor
Leon Trotzki: 655
Leon Trotzky: 9,160
Latine, this result recommends Leo Trotsky (unless he'd have preferred, say, Leo Trotscius). IacobusAmor 21:53, 15 Ianuarii 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think y wasn't and isn't used much in Latin, so Trotski. --Alex1011 22:00, 15 Ianuarii 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Iacobe we definitely want -i. Троцкий => Trockij translit => Trotsci latine (agree with Alex's point above about z=>s. But as for c/k, part of me thinks we should honor the slavicity and go with k. Trotscius looks well formed to my eye, I wonder if there be attestations. He's certainly old enough...--Ioshus (disp) 22:13, 15 Ianuarii 2007 (UTC)[reply]

well keep in mind that the rule of not latinizing the orthography of names is only meant to apply to languages that use the latin alphabet. there was at one point extensive discussion on how slavic names should be transliterated, mainly between Alexander Gerashchenko, myself, and possibly Myces as well. in the end, I basically decided to let Gospodin Gerashchenko do it however he wanted. but maybe his opinion should be solicited ;-) --Iustinus 23:06, 15 Ianuarii 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A problem here is that he seems to have published under the name Leon Trotsky, or at least that's what the Library of Congress thinks; e.g.:

In English: LC Control Number: ltf90033802 Type of Material: Book (Print, Microform, Electronic, etc.) Personal Name: Trotsky, Leon, 1879-1940. Main Title: Between red and white; a study of some fundamental questions of revolution, with particular reference to Georgia. Published/Created: London, Communist Party of Great Britain [1922] Description: 104 p.

In French: LC Control Number: ltf91012172 Type of Material: Book (Print, Microform, Electronic, etc.) Personal Name: Trotsky, Leon, 1879-1940. Main Title: L’avènement du bolchevisme, traduit par Francis-François Français. Published/Created: Paris, Editions et librairie, 1919. Description: 142 p.

In German: LC Control Number: 25014238 Type of Material: Book (Print, Microform, Electronic, etc.) Personal Name: Trotsky, Leon, 1879-1940 Main Title: 1917. Die Lehren der Revolution. Mit einem Vorwort von Paul Levi. Published/Created: Berlin, E. Laub, [1925] Description: 78, [1] p. 22 cm.

In Yiddish: LC Control Number: 52050051 Type of Material: Book (Print, Microform, Electronic, etc.) Personal Name: Trotsky, Leon, 1879-1940. Uniform Title: Trud, dist︠s︡iplina pari︠a︡adok. Yiddish [from old catalog] Main Title: Arbet, distsiplin un ordnung. Published/Created: 1918?] Description: p. cm.

So if you're transliterating, you choose something like Trotskii, but if you're using an attested form that he himself may have approved of, you go with Trotsky. Some of the inconsistency can be avoided with Trotscius. IacobusAmor 00:54, 16 Ianuarii 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I would say Trotsky followed the official transliterations of his time of the respective (pace Iustinus) countries. In Germany the authorised translation of "My life" by Alexandra Ramm was: "Leo (sic) Trotzki - Mein Leben." Leo Trotski seems to me the most adequate form according to the rules of our vicip. Trotscius would be something like Hegelius or Goethius, what we also have. --Alex1011 21:44, 20 Aprilis 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Consentio: Leo Trotski in titulo, Leo Davidi f. Trotski in prima sententia. Andrew Dalby (disputatio) 12:08, 21 Aprilis 2007 (UTC)[reply]
