de:wiki gives his birth name as "Giorgos Stylianos Seferiadis". This is pretty certainly a mistake, because Greeks don't normally have middle names of their own; their middle names are patronymics, so (if his father was officially Stylianos, as is likely though I can't verify it) his birth name was "Giorgos Stylianou Seferiadis".

But, anyway, we can't insert the Stylianos or Stylianou into his pseudonym and make him "Georgius Stylianu Sepheres". His pseudonym is what it is -- Γιώργος Σεφέρης --, and we can't add to it. All we can do is to transliterate it into Latin, "Georgius Sepheres". At least, that's what I think. Andrew Dalby (disputatio) 20:18, 21 Augusti 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Again, de:wiki seems to be wrong in saying Smyrna. Other sources (including even the picture caption on de:wiki) say Urla (modern Greek Vourla). So, where exactly is this? en:Urla says it is ancient Clazomenae, but I don't know if this is accurate. Does anyone? Andrew Dalby (disputatio) 20:23, 21 Augusti 2008 (UTC)[reply]

To answer my own question, I think Clazomenae must be near Urla but not on the same site. It's quite a long way from Smyrna, anyway. Andrew Dalby (disputatio) 20:54, 21 Augusti 2008 (UTC)[reply]
