has to be rewritten as something like

but things like that may be easier to read if they're "(Dregni 2004:4–5)" in the text and

Dregni, Michael. 2004. The Life and Music of a Gypsy Legend. Oxoniae: Oxford University Press. ISBN 0-19-516752-X.
