Italics for words specified after language-names[fontem recensere]

Re: "(Graece: Ἀθήναιος Nαυκρατίτης)" :—Andrew, why have you taken the italics out? The standard throughout Vicipaedia is to set parenthetical alternate terms in italics, and our Greek font seems to have italics. IacobusAmor 13:37, 22 Martii 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I had seen a discussion of this very point, but perhaps it was in en:Wikipedia and not here. This discussion that I saw (wherever it was) concluded that, since foreign scripts are distinctive enough already, there is no point in additionally italicising them (which, as typographers know, makes them slightly more difficult to read). But if there has been discussion here that reached a different conclusion, I bow to it! Very sorry. Do we have to italicise Cyrillic and devanagari as well? I will find the policy page in a minute, Andrew, but the idea has been to italicize Cyrillic, Helleni, and Nordic languages (anything that looks latinate enough). We have not been italicizing Indic, Hebraic, Arabic, or Asiatic anything.--Ioshus (disp) 13:49, 22 Martii 2007 (UTC)[reply]
