Aratus pisonii, vulgo cancer arborum manglium appellatus, est species Brachyurorum quae in arboribus manglibus in tropica subtropicaque Americae regionibus habitat, a Florida ad Brasiliam in litore Atlantico, et a Nicaragua ad Peruviam in litore Pacifico.[2] Vescitur foliis praecipue manglium, sed omnivorum materiam anteponit animalium.[3] A. pisonii est sola monotypici generis Arati species.[4] Pisonii, nomen specificum, Gulielmum Pisonium naturalistam Nederlandicum memorat, qui per Brasiliam cum Georgio Marcgrave anno 1638 peragrabat.[5]
